“The Secret Of Great AdvertisingHeadlines”
Why do I continuously harp about the importance of your headline in your advertising? Your headline is the part of the advertising that grabs the reader’s attention & makes them want to read your ad.
Your reader (or in radio ..listener) isn’t waiting to hear your ad. Their thoughts are miles away from your message. You need to grab their attention.
You can do that with a loud noise...and that will last for about a tenth of a second.
You can say their name. That always gets their attention. But on radio? In the newspaper? Not practical.
You can say a word or phrase that directly applies to them...There! Now we’re cooking!
If you want to sell a product to diabetics……. Just having the word “diabetes”” in the headline will get their attention.
If the husband just said to the wife ““We’re getting rid of that stupid cat...look at the cat hair everywhere!”…..then the word “Cat hair” or “pet hair” will get their attention.
The key is...the headline has to directly apply to them.
So if you are going to set up the “voice mail system” I just told you about...remember that the short little ads must have a strong headline to work. |
