A Marketing Idea That I’m Using To Create Wealth. Membership Sites

One of the seminars I went to recently was put on by Dan Kennedy & Bill Glazer. Bill will be sharing the stage with me in May at Gold Member Howard Anderson’s Ultimate Profit Explosion Bootcamp.

 

For two hours we heard from two guys who have Membership websites. That means there they have websites that people pay a monthly fee to have access to.

 

For example, did you know that there are a group of people that own PT Cruisers (I’m one) that pay $29 a month to chat with other PT Cruiser owners online, buy PT Cruiser T-Shirts, add-ons for the car, and more.

 

These are online communities that join to learn & share with like-minded people.

 

Do you have a hobby? Is there a subject that you talk about a lot? Believe me, there are more people out there that share your interest.

 

There are even a few companies that have ready made....point & Click websites that you can put your information on. My main speaking & seminar website is www.unfairadvantageretail.com. This is a site like the one I am describing. There are plenty more. I pay $129 a month for the website, hosting...everything. The company I use is www.memberstar.com.

 

Anyway, the two guys telling about these sites were each making between $2,000-$50,000 a month just on membership fees from each site they owned. One guy owns several dozen sites. There will be more about this later, because I am absolutely going to have a few more of these sites. My present one generates about $8,500 a month in pure profit.

I want more.

Anyway, I have to listen to the CD...watch the DVDs...and learn how to effectively promote the membership sites.

 

This may even require a separate newsletter. We’ll see.

 

Most of these sites are strictly online. There is nothing printed, stamped, or mailed.

Other than the monthly web hosting fee, and any promotional expenses, it’s all profit.

And there are sites for almost any subject. Sample sites can be seen at www.memberstar.com.

 

 

I am now in the process of filming several things we do here in our store. We have a Gift Certificate referral program that just keeps pumping out $12,000-$13,000 a month in sales...most of that is profit. Every $20 we invest in the gift certificate gives us back about $128 in profit. Amazing, isn’t it?

If you have ever been approached by an ad rep, you know the feeling of confusion and frustration. They tell you how much your business will increase and how you will get SOOO many new customers. Then you run the ad, nothing happens, and the rep comes back and tells you to run it again to see if it works next time. Surely if you continue to run the ad SOMETHING will happen!

After months of spending hundreds or even thousands of dollars, many business will throw up their hands and proclaim "ADVERTISING JUST DOESN'T WORK!"

The Unfair Advantage is an excellent book that every small business owner should have on their desk. Not their bookshelf, on the desk, and the pages should be dogeared from constantly refering to this book. All businesses need to and should advertise aggressively and this book really does give you an unfair advantage by teaching you how to craft your advetisements, and where and where not to place those advertisements. Advertising that doesn't work is expensive. Advertising that REALLY works is libertating and will take your business and your life to the next level and beyond.
