“How To Get A Master’s Degree In Retail Marketing”
One of the things that great retailers (or any businesspeople) have in common...is that they are students of marketing, retailing, and selling.
As some of you know, I have a vast library of books on advertising, marketing, sales, and related fields. I read a lot. A book or two a week is common. And many of these books are a waste of time. But how many books woyuld you have to study, take notes from, and internalize...before you had the equivalent of a Masters Degree in Retail Marketing? Not many, I found out.
Selling Retail by John Lawhan is a must-read book. This guy has truly mastered the art of retail selling. I re-read this book every few years. Use a highlighter.
Triggers by Joseph Sugarman describes the psychological motivations we have for buying. It’s a treasure if you are advertising or selling by direct mail.
Influence by Robert Cialdini explains how to make people want to buy from you. It’s truly a book you study.
Go to www.Amazon.com and buy every book by Dan Kennedy. He is my main mentor in speaking and seminars. This guy is the Godfather of Marketing. In one way or another he gets about $1,000 a month from me. Newsletters, books, CDs, DVDs, Seminars, etc.
He is incredibly prolific. |
